Remembering Mr Saad and His Legacy

When Mr Mohd Saad was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer, his calm strength never wavered. A devoted husband and father, he carried his warmth and cheerful spirit into Dover Park Hospice, where he not only found comfort but discovered a new passion for art, leaving behind more than 40 works that continue to inspire patients, staff and volunteers alike.

Before his illness, Mr Saad lived a life marked by service and dedication. He spent 26 years in the Singapore Police Force before continuing his career at Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS). Known for his personable dependability, he was deeply admired by all.

At Dover Park Hospice, Mr Saad’s cheerful nature shone through, even as he faced the challenges of his advanced illness. He found new meaning through art therapy at Day Care, pouring his energy into creating vibrant paintings. Over time, he produced more than 40 precious pieces, many of which were adopted by friends, relatives, and the hospice community.

One special four-panel painting was donated to Dover Park Hospice’s Sunflower Charity Gala 2024. Untitled when he passed, his wife, Madam Hafiah, lovingly named it “Extravaganza” for its dazzling colours. A gesture that was a tribute not just to his creativity, but to the joy he shared.

Beyond the canvases, Mr Saad left behind something even more enduring: his presence. He built bonds with everyone he came across, filling the hospice with stories, laughter, and encouragement. His generosity of spirit and passion for art became a source of comfort and inspiration to all around him.

Today, his legacy lives on in the memories of his family, in the friendships he nurtured, and in the artworks that continue to brighten the spirit of Dover Park Hospice. More than a patient, Mr Saad will always be remembered as a loving father, a devoted husband, and an artist whose life touched every heart.
